To promote a newly launched soju brand in the Korean market to a younger audience, the client aimed to create an engaging pop-up store on the concept of “zero sugar.” The space combined several media art installations and interactive experiences. Among these, our team was responsible for producing one of the featured installations, Searo Wishfall.
As the event took place during the Lunar New Year, the concept was inspired by a mythical setting: a mysterious waterfall hidden inside a cave where soju flows like water. According to the story, a character named Saerogumi has placed a magical spell on the waterfall, granting wishes to those who make a wish there. Based on this narrative, we designed an interactive installation where visitors could engage with the experience and symbolically make their wishes.
My primary role focused on designing the waterfall visual effects using Unity and developing the body-tracking interaction system with Microsoft Kinect sensor. I was also involved throughout the project, from concept development to on-site installation, working collaboratively with the team to bring the experience to life.
